While working on another project at Oliver's Mount, our intrepid podcast host also managed a handful of chats with some of the most experienced people at the Mount to get their view on the weekend and Road Racing in general. With no Isle of Man TT, North West 200 or Ulster GP running this year, Scarborough is one of the few true Road Racing venues operating in 2021.
Danny Horne, Crew Chief for Dafabet Racing is first up; sat in his car as the rain lashed down we chatted all things Oliver's Mount, what it means to him to be a regular contender at the circuit and the chances for his riders this year plus a look at his TT experiences with Cameron Donald, Dean Harrison, Ivan Lintin and his cinematic debut with Guy Martin in the TT film, 'Closer to the Edge'
Dean Harrison, with over 100 wins at Oliver's Mount is next up for a brief chat between races. As the newest member of the exclusive '100 Wins Club', Dean tells Dave Neal what it means to race at Scarborough and how much he's missed the Roads in general. It's a short chat due to time restrictions and there's even get a slight interruption from his crew chief to check the Classic Superbike settings before the next race!
Tom Weeden is a true Road Racing man, a winner at the Manx GP and a regular visitor to the Isle of Man, Tom has overcome serious injury to return to racing and is stronger than ever. Kent man, Weeden, explains how he balances his life as a tradesman to go racing and how short his preparations were for the weekend as a Privateer entry!
Finally we chat to Davey Todd as he returns to Scarborough after a three-year hiatus. A successful comeback saw the Saltburn rider finish second behind Harrison in the prestigious Spring Cup race for Wilson Craig Racing. After a year with Honda's factory team in 2020, no international road racing meant Todd had to look elsewhere for 2021 and a last minute deal with WCR saw the popular rider get his chance on the hallowed tarmac once again.
